Mainstar 7

If I won a competition to be mayor for the day I would change…

  • A TEENAGE PARK!
It would be awesome if Greymouth had a park with challenging obstacles like Climbing walls /nets/ropes, bars to swing over, tyres to run through, tight ropes, Blind trail’s ( you need to have a buddy), stepping blocks that go higher and lower, beams to walk across. In general it would be great to have a fun place that older children can go to and have lots of fun and exercise.

  • CHEAPER SWIMMING LESSONS
I think that swimming lessons should be at least half price or cheaper because I feel it is really important that everyone gets a chance to learn to swim and there is a lot of families out there that can’t afford to pay for lessons. There are lots of rivers, beaches and swimming holes around the West coast and there is no lifeguards at those places. Parents can’t keep an eye on their children all the time and it would be really sad if someone drowned.

  • ALL NEW FOOTPATHS IN GREYMOUTH AND THE SURROUNDING TOWNSHIPS

All the footpaths in our area look terrible because there are so many potholes and uneven surfaces. I think they all need to be fixed to make it safe for elderly people to be able to go for walks and also parents with their children. It can be so easy to lose your footing and fall over at any time but with the way our footpaths are this can happen so much easier and it dangerous.

  1. These are fantastic ideas Katelynn! Maybe we should send these to the Mayor?
