On the 25th of March my class (Totara 1) went to Brunner Mine and the Stillwater cemetery. Here is a presentation on what we did for the day!

The Mines Afire! Tui facts
In class today we read some more of The Mines Afire as well as completing some more activities on the book. One of the activities was to pick a bird out of 4, there were Wood Pigeon, Weka, Pukeko and a Tui. I chose to do a tui. I found 5 interesting facts about tui's and really enjoyed looking and reading these facts. Has your class done something similar to this?

Colour Day!
Colour Day!
Today March 22 all the schools on the West Coast had a colour day where we got to wear very bright clothes due to the terrible events last Friday in Christchurch. Lots of people wore their tie dye shirts, including me! People also wore dresses, skirts, shorts and pretty much anything you can imagine with colour on it. At 1:32 all of New Zealand is standing for 2 minutes silence, Grey Main are all going to stand on the Netball courts at our school.

This week Totara 1 have been working on times tables, subtraction and addition of positive and negative numbers. Then we were given some maths sheets to complete from Miss Power obviously around times tables, subtraction and addition of positive and negative numbers. We have also continued reading The Mines Afire, we then looked at what Greymouth used to look like and what buildings use to be and where they were. I had a lot of fun looking at the buildings and seeing what they used to be and what they are now, I even made a slide with some old buildings and the new buildings. In the weekend I competed in the Moonlight Triathlon with my sister Aimee but we did it separately, I completed the triathlon in 48 minutes.

Kid's Lit 2019
Kid's Lit 2019
This year I decided to put my name down for Kid's Lit. I have been really enjoying it so far probably because I enjoy reading A LOT! I hope I get into a Kid's Lit team and get to compete at St Pats to go to Nationals and then Internationals. Does your school do Kid's Lit?
