Day Out

Day Out 2019

A few weeks ago I got told that I got picked for the Year 8 girl to go to a day out with other year 8 students from around the Grey District. Levi and I got picked as the 2 from Grey Main. |

We started the day with a visit to the Grey Mouth Polytech for breakfast, we had Ambrosia, sandwich, fruit and a cupcake. It was sooooo good! We also got a tour of the kitchen and garden. Then we got into 2 groups and went in vans and drove to Search and Rescue, where we got a tour of the helicopter and split into teams and did a challenge. They couldn't pick a winner so we all won! Then we went to the fire station and got tour of the inside and 2 trucks, got to set out a small fire and then my favourite activity climbing a 3 story building. It was so much fun, the view was amazing. Then we got pizza for lunch along with fizzy/water. We were even aloud to take back to school/home a pizza if there were left overs!

Overall I had a really good day! I am so grateful that I got picked to do these awesome activities.
Did you get picked from your school?

My Book Currently - Liars: The Set-up - Jack Heath

Last week I got a book out from the school library called 'Liars, The Set-Up'.  So far it is been about a boy Jarli and his friend Doug and there families running away from 'Viper' who is trying to kill them all. But when Jarli gets famous for his app which tells him if people are saying the truth he gets told to use his app to prove if the defence (minister) is telling the truth. He then meets up with these agents and they take him to a hotel where has to stay for a night. Then the hotel has a black out and the owner and Jarli look at the cameras to see that it was possibly 'Viper'. So they get in the go kart and the owner of the hotel makes Jarli drive as the spotted someone that could be Viper in the camera and right now they are still chasing them.

Christchurch Choir Music Festival 2019

Around 1 week and a half ago a group of 20 students including myself went on a trip to Christchurch for the Christchurch Choir Music Festival 2019. I decided to write about the trip.

Christchurch Choir Music Festival 2019

Day 1 of the Choir Trip:

Last week a group of around 20 students including me went on a trip to Christchurch for the Christchurch Choir Music Festival. I was in Christina's car with Iris (Christina's Daughter), Rata, Kyra and myself. We had such a fun time in the car singing and dancing to music, eating heaps of lollies, taking selfies and of course talking.

Our first stop was Athurs Pass for lunch. We arrived at a small building where it was raining, quite heavy I might add. We got out of the cars and had lunch in the small building. Then Iris, Rata, Kyra and I had a smart idea to run over to the toilets in the rain so we did and got absolutely soaked! We then got back in our cars, drove to the Christchurch Top Ten Holiday park, where we stayed. Of course we got settled in. Then we went and played on the playground and then decided since it was so hot we went for a swim in the pool. We even went down the hydro slide and played truth or dare and marko polo. After that we went back to hotel rooms, had a shower and got into some nice clothes. We then made our way to the all you can eat buffet and literally filled our plates up with all we could eat. After that we went to the ten pin bowling and I came 3rd. We then took a selfie in this selfie thing and Christina is going to photo copy it and give us all a copy as it only printed 1. Then we went back to the hotel, settled down and went to bed.

Day 2 of the Choir Trip:

We woke up at 6:30 am, got ready and went down for breakfast at 7:30. For breakfast I had a piece of peanut butter on toast. Then we went and played for a while on the bouncy pillow. After that it was time to leave and go to the Christchurch Town Hall for a 3 hour practice. We got to watch the orchestra and it was amazing. After that we went to Margaret Mahey Park and had our lunch we made earlier that morning. The first thing I did was go on the flying fox with Grace, she is a girl from Paroa. She hung out with us as there were only 3 that come from her school, there was 4 but the other girl pulled out. We then went on the giant slide and had so much more fun! After that we went to the mall... In my group I had Grace, Iris, Angelina, Rata, Kyra and a few others, but after a while Grace and I went off in a two as you could be in a group or pairs but you couldn't go by yourself and went to Star Bucks, JayJays, K-Mart, McDonalds, H and M, Cotton on and Lovisa. I bought sunglasses, lollies, crop top from JayJays and a few other things. I was really happy with what I bought!

After that we went back to the motel and got ready for the Christchurch Choir Music Festival. Iris did Reagan, Millah's and my hair in french and dutch braids and then she did her hair in head band plait into a bun. I really liked my hair do! Thank you Iris!!! Then we went down and got some dinner it was nachos. I sat with Grace and a few others. Then I went back up to my room shared and ate some of my lollies and got into my uniform. (I wore my grey Adidas shoes and we all had to wear navy or white knee high socks, navy shorts/skirt, White Blouse and obviously our hair had to look respectable. Then we took a photo with the other schools from the Grey District (Paroa, Karoro, Runanga and a few other schools). Then we drove to the Christchurch Town Hall, got taken to our seats and waited until it began. I was seated next to Grace and another girl from another school. Then it begun... it was incredible!!! We sung, the orchestra played and we admired how big, colourful and amazing the Christchurch Town Hall is. We sung for around 2 hours all together, at half time we got a 5 minute break my sister and I went to see our parents as they both came. Then we went back and sung our hearts out. I am so grateful I got to go as it was absolutely incredible! After the singing we went to McDonal'd's and we could get what ever you wanted so I got a Quarter Pounder Combo (Medium), Frozen Coke and to top it all off a chocolate sundae. Then Grace, Angelina, Iris, Kyra, Rata and I went and got a table sat, talked and ate. Keeping in mind by the time we got our food it was around 10:30 pm, so it took us a while to get to sleep! Once we got back to our room we got into our pjama's and I read for a while until Christina told Iris and the rest of our room to go to sleep.

Day 3 (The last day):

I got out of bed about 6:30 - 6:45 and got dressed and brushed my teeth. Then I went back into my room, quietly as Iris was still asleep/just waking up! To pack my bags up, then when Iris got up we got our plates/bowls/knife/fork/spoon and went down to the kitchen for breakfast. We met Grace on the way down that stairs so we all sat together for breakfast. I had peanut butter on toast. Then Grace, Iris, Rata, Angelina and myself went on the bouncy pillow and the trampoline, it was so much fun! Then Iris, Rata, Kyra, Angelina went upstairs to this game room and played a game! Then we went back to our rooms and I saw that my Mum and Dad had arrived so I got my bags from my room and bought them down the stairs and loaded them into the boot of the car. Then I said goodbye to everyone and got into the car and we drove home. When we got home we had a family dinner (Fish and Chips) at Nanny and Poppa's house, as Uncle Abe, Aunty Che, Kyro, Jaxon and Lilly had come down for a motorcross event but because of the weather raining so much they decided not to compete so instead we had fish and chips at Nanny and Poppa's house. Over all I had such a fun time on the choir trip! My highlight would definitely be the singing in the town hall, it was incredible! The orchestra was amazing and the sound of all the different school choirs singing together was amazing! I also enjoyed spending time with my friends!

Film Review

Yesterday Grey Main School and a few other schools went to the Regent Theatre to watch the Toki Pounamu Film Festival. We were then asked by Mr Abbott to make a review around one or all of the videos. I choose to do a review on Paroa's video, as I really liked it.

Trying out for the touch team

Touch

Last Thursday Aimee (My sister) and I went down to Karoro Domain, to try out for the touch teams. Aimee tried out for Under 12's if I remember rightly and I tried out for Under 13's. We haven't been told if we made it in yet, I really hope I get in as I tried really hard. Have you ever tried out for a sports team before?

Halloween Writing

Over the last week we have been working on spooky writing, since Halloween was this week. I had a lot of fun writing spooky stories, and would like to do it again.

THE NIGHT OF HORROR
Freezing, I walk up the stairs of an old battered house. Knock, Knock, Knock… screech… The door opens. I take one step inside… BOOM the door slams behind me. I tug on the door handle but it won’t open, it’s jammed.

The light flickers on, I see a silhouette at the end of the hallway. CRASH, the light falls from the ceiling and smashes right in front of me. The silhouette has disappeared into the shadows.

I take a few steps forward towards the spiral staircase. There is a big gust of wind, pieces of paint peeling off the walls. SHATTER. The sound of a window shattering is enough to make me jump. The shadow races up the staircase leaving not a trail behind. I take off up the stairs... they start to crumble under my feet. I jump off just as the stairs crumble down next to me. I hear a laugh in the distance, I look up and see eyes staring directly at me.

Coughing from all the dust surrounding me, I get up and run as fast as I can to the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind me. Footsteps following my every move.
