Christmas Concert Practice and 2019 Classroom

Today in the morning the Seniors and Rata went down to the Regent Theatre for a Christmas Concert practice. We all went down on the buses and when we got there we got shown where our seats are and sat down, then Mrs O told us how everything is going to go. After that Rata performed there item, then Totara 1 and then finally my class Totara 2 and 3. Then the other half of the school arrived. Then Mrs O called the Kapahaka group down which involved me to have a practice, we ended up have 2 practices because Paula wanted us to. Then Rata and us left and the other half of the school practised's there items I guess!

When we got back to school we found out who's class we are in next year! I was so happy to find out that I am in MISS POWERS Class! I have lots of friends in my class and can't wait for a year full of fun!

Looking Back at 2018...

Looking back at 2018...

This year I have been lucky enough to be in Miss Hines class, I have been apart of many activities and have grown to be a better learner and leader in our school. Miss Hines has taught me so much! This year I think I have come out of my shell a lot!

The best thing about 2018 is....

This year the best thing was having the experience to attend the Mistletoe Bay camp, because I have never been there before and I got to try new things like Archery, Paddle Boarding and so much more! I have really enjoyed being in Miss Hines class and got to learn so many new things and take part in so many activities like going to Shantytown to learn about the Chinese immigrants and a lot more.

Something I am proud of from 2018...

I am really proud of myself for getting 4th on the basic facts board with a time of 100 correct in 1 minute 33 because at the start of 2018 I was getting it done in around 2 minutes but now I'm not! I made it into Grey District Athletics and then the West Coast Athletics I made it in for Shot put, Discus, 60 metre and 80 metre sprints. I am proud of reading lots of hours for the BIGGEST READER. I am really proud of running the Omotomutu track in under 12 minutes with my Dad, Mum, Dog and Sister and also running Anzac park 3 times in 7 minutes and 16 seconds. I am proud of doing the Tuatara with my family in under 1 hour and 30 minutes. I am really proud of completing all the ICAS exams which are Maths, English and Science.

My goal/goals for 2019...

My goal for 2019 is to put my hand up for everything and become a school leader throughout the school. This will include Office, Road Patrol, Librarian, Ambassador, Wet Day Monitor, Helping in the Garden. Taking part in Choir, Kapahaka, School Productions which is every 2 years and PrEP. Continue to work towards getting my 7th mainstar badge and also the senior leadership badges. I will also put my name down to do the Icas Exams and Speech board again.

I am really excited for whats in store next year and can't wait to be a Year 8 and be a leader for all the younger children in the school!

It was a great day at mini market I got no money out but had a look and order some tie dye socks and a watermelon drinking cup! I can't wait to see what else there is at big market!

The boy in the striped pyjamas

The boy in the striped pyjamas

This term for our reading comprehension we are reading the boy in the striped pyjamas. As you may already know reading comprehension is when your teacher reads you a chapter of the book your reading then she/he will set you a task to complete for that chapter. So far this term we have already read 2 chapters.

Chapter 1 ~ Bruno makes a descovery

For this chapter we had to answer some questions about the chapter we read and then we had to complete the CREATE on the right hand side of the screen.

Here is the CREATE activitie...

Chapter 2 ~ The New House

For this chapter we also had to answer some questions and then complete a create activitie.

Here is the CREATE activitie...

WHAT HAS THE BOOK BEEN ABOUT SO FAR?
So far the book has been about Bruno and his family moving to a house in a desolate area with nothing to do or explore. Mother does not agree with where father has moved the family to.

I have really enjoyed the book so far and can't wait to read even more this term.

Te Reo lesson with Whae Katie

Te Reo lesson with Whae Katie

On Tuesday the 5 of June, Totara 2 had a te reo lesson with Whae Katie! For this activity at this lesson we had to pick a word in maori for example pukapuka which is book if you didn't know, and we had to change one of the letters for an image of a book! You don't do all the letters you just do 1 or 2 to make it look nice!

Most of mine you can tell what the word is because the image is giving it away, but I still think it looks really cool and would really like to do another one another day! Maybe next time if we had a little more time I would like to change the font and colours of the writing so it looks more attractive and people want to look at it!

Family Fiesta Cupcake Entry 2018

This is my cupcake entry for the Family Fiesta. I don't really have a theme if I did it would probably be 'LOLLIE OVERLOAD'. For my cupcakes I placed pink, green and chocolate on them and then added LOLLIES!

T1W4 Literacy/Numeracy Reflection

This week we have been working on Maths Buddy. Miss Hines set us some tasks on Maths buddy and we had to work on them  through - out WEEK 4.

Speaking of WEEK 4 we are soo close to going on MISTLETOE BAY CAMP! I am soo excited except I get CAR SICK and Miss Hines said the road from Havelock to Mistletoe bay is 45 minutes and is just really twisty and turney! OH NO!

Anyways this week we have started writing Colour Poems! If you don't know what a ColouPoems are you pick a colour for example green and then you write green down and then write what it..

Looks like
Sounds like
Smells like
Tastes like
Feels like

Then you can add colour to it like since we are doing GREEN you could add the colour green to the background and add pictures of green things like grass, trees, flax, bush, growing tomato's!

The colours I picked are pink, blue and I am working on Yellow, Orange and Red.

Here the are..

Pink...

Blue...

Here is the doc I have put my Green, Orange and Red colour poems in!

T1W2 Acrostic Poems

Acrostic Poems
WALT: Write an acrostic poem.

This past week we have been learning how to write an acrostic poem. If you don't know how to make an acrostic poem you simply pick a word and write in straight down and then add a sentence or a word to match that letter. Here is an example with the word cats!

Center of attention.
Around the neighbourhood.
Thinking about those scary dogs.

Slimy cat food.

Here are all 3 of my acrostic poems. I chose the words Katelynn (My name), Dolphin and Echo (My Dog)!
