Week 8 Reflection

Week 8 Reflection 

This week Totara 1 have been working on times tables, subtraction and addition of positive and negative numbers. Then we were given some maths sheets to complete from Miss Power obviously around times tables, subtraction and addition of positive and negative numbers. We have also continued reading The Mines Afire, we then looked at what Greymouth used to look like and what buildings use to be and where they were. I had a lot of fun looking at the buildings and seeing what they used to be and what they are now, I even made a slide with some old buildings and the new buildings. In the weekend I competed in the Moonlight Triathlon with my sister Aimee but we did it separately, I completed the triathlon in 48 minutes.

Kid's Lit 2019

Kid's Lit 2019
This year I decided to put my name down for Kid's Lit. I have been really enjoying it so far probably because I enjoy reading A LOT! I hope I get into a Kid's Lit team and get to compete at St Pats to go to Nationals and then Internationals. Does your school do Kid's Lit?

Music with Miss Hines

Music with Miss Hines

For the past 3 weeks we have had a music session with Miss Hines every Tuesday afternoon. We learnt about 4 different notes and each week had to get in a group of 2 or 3 people and make a sound using the beats. Today we had to make 4 beats in a 4 beat slot, I worked with Bailee and we made a beat together. We decided to make ours on paper and then Miss Hines took a photo for us and sent it to us, we made ours very colourful and bright. I have had a lot of fun learning about the 4 music notes! 

Term 1 Week 5

Kapahaka Performance 
Today at assembly the Grey Main School Kapahaka group performed. We sang 3 songs and sang them at assembly after 2 practices. I think we did really well as we only had to practices and I am really excited for Festival and Family Fiesta.

This week we have been doing a lot of different things and the 2 I decided to blog about were technology and basic facts.



Every Wednesday Totara walk down to the Greymouth High School. We go to the classes we have been put in and learn how to do each skill. There are 5 classes which are, Wood Work, Metal Work, Soft Materials, Digital and Cooking. I am in Soft Materials and I can't wait to start sewing!



Everyday Totara do a basic facts speed test and every Friday Miss Power puts the fastest times on the leader board. To get on the board you have to get 100 out of 100 and a faster time than the slowest person on the board. So far my record is 1 minute 34 seconds, though it may get faster! I had a lot of fun doing basic facts this week because I got my fastest time so far.
