T2W5 Numeracy Reflection

This week for numeracy my group, the newtons have been working on 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. We have not done it digitally this week because we have been given 2 sheets with around 20 questions to complete! I found these questions really easy because all you have to know is your times tables. Next week I would really like to learn short division because alot of the work we have been doing as a class involves short division and I'm not quite sure how to do that.If you want to have a little taste of what we have been doing this week here is a question for you to work out and tell me your answer in the comments. 78x27. I would work this question out on paper and in a algorithm to make it easier for yourself! I have made a DLO to present my work this week since it was on paper. I made a google drawing with what we were doing, an explantion and a photo of the 2 sheets.

Maths Maintenance 

This week we have also worked on our maths maintenance. Which is basically 20 questions each day. Those questions are random but oviously they are maths questions. Like for example how many digits in this number 11,364,978 tell me your answer in the comments.

Basic Facts

Everyweek we also do basic facts. Each column has around 26 questions, those questions are Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. 

Maths Buddy

Everyweek we also do 4 or 5 maths buddy tasks and save them as Pdfs into our numeracy folder. I normally create a folder called T2W5 Maths Buddy Tasks for example, so I know what folder to put them in when I save them!

This week for maths my group have been working on Perimeter, Area and Volume. We had 15 slides to complete.

We have also been working on our Maths Maintenance for W4. We have 20 questions for each day of the week except Wednesday because we have Tech at Grey High.

T2W4 Descriptive Writing

Crow

Flying through the cold misty air of the forest, the sweet sound of a wooden flute has begun to play. My gang and I swoop down into the leafy forest following the sound. I drift over the screeching sound, jump onto my feet and grab the boy.  I snatch the wooden flute out of his hands and throw him onto the cold, crispy, dry ground. I begin to play the flute the sound that came out of the flute was delirious.  I throw the uproarious instrument onto the ground, notify my crows that it is time to leave and fly away.

Later, I look into the galaxy like night sky just to find the boy that was playing the wooden flute earlier in the afternoon has decided to make himself another wing so he can fly. After about 3 - 4 minutes of him being in the night sky his fake wing flys off. I can’t help but giggle to myself!”I call out into the night sky Tweedly Deedly Dum! Within seconds my cold blooded crows are right in front of me, wait hold up there not in front of me, My heart jumps as I realise I am not alone. BOOOOO! says something from behind me, I squeal but then realise my crows have gotten me back from last time I scared them! They are laughing so hard! I tell them to get themselves together otherwise there’ll be trouble! Then I tell them that the kid that was playing the ear cancelling flute was attempting to fly and fell down about 600 metres from here!” We take off at a speed of about 20 km and get there in about 5 minutes! We got there just to find him lying on the crusty ground unconscious. “Picking him up around the neck I hear another girl playing a flute…”

I drop the boy down and tell the boys to follow her and the ear scratching noise. We catch her up and take the flute out of her hand and I throw it as far a I can! Then I say to myself that I wish I never see a flute again in my life! Then my embarrassing mother starts calling me for dinner. Ever since we bought the new tree house she has been in love with the oven, so tonight she decided to make cottage pie which I have to admit it is my favourite meal but seriously I just started having a good time with my mates and now she calls me!

Descriptive Writing ~ Week 3

Descriptive Writing

The gradient coloured sky gives me the sense of fluffy pink candy floss on a stick illuminating my wallet to pay for more than 1. The smell of freshly cooked buttery popcorn makes my nose twitch like a rabbit digging a hole. I can feel the ground moving beneath my feet after I have been a ride that spins around at full speed. The smell of the sea salt is drowning out the sounds of children's laughter. As I get closer to the merry go round all the different coloured lights begin to explode with brightness encouraging me to take a seat on the exciting ride, whilst I’m on the ride I can see the rainbow like sky moving into the darkness making my surroundings turn into silhouettes. The smell of hot chips and red runny tomato sauce is making my mouth water. The sound of children's laughter is beginning to get louder and louder because of the rattling sound of the music. Hours later I have bought a creamy scoop of sensational hokey pokey ice cream that has been making my mouth water. I can now feel the night chills tingling up my spine but more crowds of adults seem to be turning up ready to PARTY!  It's been a wonderful day full of exciting activities at the festival today!

Descriptive Writing ~ T2W2

My Descriptive writing...

I woke up on a cold frosty morning cold enough to see my own cloudy white breath.
I run out onto the field just to feel the frost crunching underneath my comfortable warm
boots. I can hear the beautiful birds singing in the tall frosty oak tree in the distance.
I try to walk closer without a sound to get a photo but my boots are making the frost
crunch like a golden crunchie bar. I can now smell the sugary smell of someone making a
hot chocolate back in my wonderful, warm cabin just a few steps back in the bitter cold
frost.I can feel the ray of sunshine insuring that my freezing cold body gets warm.
I can see my steaming cold breath blowing out of my mouth as I gasp at the amazing
horizon.  The gold posts are covered in cold crispy frost waiting to be defrosted by the
beautiful bright shining sun.The sun is spying through the trees frantically looking for
places to shine and spark. I can see the the sun sparkling through the bear trees defrosting the
cold crispy grass that use to be a soccer field a few cold hours ago

This week for literacy we have been working on our Novel Study and each student in the class picked there own novel from the library, class or home. I chose one from the class, its called The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne. We have 10 activities to complete in about 5 Weeks! I have started the Diary Entry but not quite finished it.
