Term 1 Reflection: Looking back!

This term has been such an amazing term. We have gone from a classroom where nobody knows anything about each other to a classroom filled with facts about each other, knowledge and a laugh every now and then. We are a great bunch of children and can't wait to go on camp next term and explore Hanmer Springs. We have so much learning ahead of us and can't wait to use our knowledge throughout the year. Here is a slide about just SOME of the AMAZING things that have happened already. I wonder what the rest of 2019 is going to bring. What do you think? What has been your favourite part about term 1 at your school so far this year?

Diamante Poem

Diamante Poem
Here is my diamante poem, we had to make this poem before we could make another poem. (The one below this post) I feel like this poem has a bit of emotion to it, not a lot but just to enough to picture an image in your mind.

Soldier
Weeping, Crying
Sprinting, Dodging, Jumping,
Clay, Sprinting, Father, Sons,
Damage, Protecting, Safe
Freezing, Reckless,

ANZAC Poem

ANZAC Poem
Today in class we have been working on poems because tomorrow we are walking to the Cenotaph and to the gates at Dixon Park. Firstly we had to make a diamante poem and check it with Miss Power and then we got to make another poem, we had the choice of 2 a colour poem or the poem I have made. (I'm not sure what the poem I have made is called). I had a lot of fun coming up with this poem. The hardest bit was finding a word that rhymed with afraid. Would you like to make a poem like this? I would definitely do this again.

Lest we forget
Katelynn

The war has just begun,
My time is almost done,
I hear gunshots in my head,
Makes me want to go to bed,

Nothing will be the same,
I have been sent to try and tame,
I am alone and very afraid,
But my resolve will not fade,

I will fight for the freedom of others,
These men will become my brothers,
There are birds in the skys,
Very, Very, High,

The trenches are oh so very deep,
It makes me want to weep,
My family is at home,
As I walk this track alone,

Anzac Biscuits

Anzac 2019
For the last week of the term we are  focusing on ANZAC. For one of the activities we had to write the ingredients and the recipe for Anzac biscuits. I had a lot of fun making these ANZAC biscuits, they smelt AMAZING! When I made my biscuits I had Mia, Iris and Bailee in my group. Stay tuned for some more blog posts on ANZAC!

Diary Entry - The Mines Afire!

Diary Entry - The Mines Afire!

This week we have continued reading 'The Mines Afire!'. The task for this week was to pretend you were either a son, daughter, brother or sister of a miner who has unfortunately passed away from the mine and write a diary entry saying how your feeling, how your Ma is coping and what has happened the past view days. I chose to be a daughter from a family of 4 siblings and parents. I wrote about the explosion and then the funeral. Stella Addington is just a person I made up, she is not real. I had a lot of fun writing a diary entry and would like to write another one from a brothers perspective. Would you like to write a diary entry? Here is a link to my diary entry if you can't read it - Link.

Place Value Houses

This week in class we have been working on the place value houses. Miss Power told us to write the 4 houses in the back of our maths book so if we ever get stuck we can look at the houses for help. Here is my DLO on the place value house, I hope it helps you if you are unsure!
