  1. Hello Katelynn,

I really like your everyday Heroes post, ka pai! Your list of 5 things we can do are really thoughtful. I am glad you are thinking about the children too. I’m sure having some toys to play with would make a big difference to some of the children.

Donations are a great way to support firefighters in Australia, as most of them are unpaid volunteers. Clothes and blankets would be helpful too. One thing I know they are asking for is blankets and protective pouches for animals who have lost their homes in the crisis. These can be donated through the ‘Animal Rescue Craft Guild’. A lot of people are knitting baby kangaroo pouches out of wool!

Although the bush-fires are really sad, I think it’s really positive to see the rest of the world coming to Australia’s aid, don’t you?

Thanks for the blog post Katelynn :)

  2. Hi Beren,

Thank you for commenting on my blog. It is so good to see the world helping Australia. I'm am sure the children would be scared, so giving them some toys would hopefully make them feel better.

    1. Hi Katelynn,

You are absolutely right about toys providing comfort for children. When I was two years old, my dad actually bought my a soft toy crocodile from Australia. I loved it so much I still have it today haha!

Do you have any special toys you have held on to?

    2. Hi Beren,

I do have some teddies from when I was younger. But they are up in the attic in plastic bags, because we moved houses. We have a big giant crocodile toy.
